Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Review: A Great Budget Phone, But Not Without Compromises

Xiaomi Redmi Note 11

What are the pros and cons of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11? This in-depth Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 review will tell you all you need to know, whether you’re interested in buying the phone or simply curious about what it’s like to use one of these budget handsets.

Design

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 is a great-looking budget phone. The device has an aluminum chassis that’s pleasing to the eye with rounded edges and curves. The IP53 splash protection means it can be easily washed off but don’t let water sit on it for too long or you’ll fry the circuitry. It also has Appealing aesthetics, a slim 8.1 mm thickness, and is easy to hold in one hand.

Display

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 has a 6.43-inch AMOLED screen with a 1080 x 2400 pixel resolution, and it looks great. The colors are vivid and the brightness is high enough that you don’t have to strain your eyes when using this phone outside.

Camera

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 has a quad-lens rear camera that struggles in low light, with some detail missing from photos. The Ultrawide mode is available for group shots and landscapes but there’s no option to switch on the background blurring effect found in the Poco F1. And though it’s well-built and performs well for a budget phone, the overall performance can be sluggish at times due to its lower power chipset.

Battery

The Xiaomi Redmi note 11 battery life is great, with over a day of usage possible on a single charge. The 5,000mAh battery capacity also means you’ll have plenty of juice to last a long day out and about. No wireless charging is a downside, but it’s not the end of the world.

Chipset

The Snapdragon 680 chipset is a bit long in the tooth, but it’s still up to the task. Performance is mostly fine but you’ll notice a slight stutter when going through menus or using apps. The 4GB of RAM does help with performance and Android 11 helps make this an overall snappy experience.

Price and availability

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 is a very good budget phone that offers great design, build quality, and battery life but with the compromises, you would expect at this price point. If you’re looking for a solid handset without breaking the bank then this is a great option. The UK pricing is set at £199 which compares well with similarly priced handsets.

The Redmi Note 11 won’t be available for purchase in the US.
